I have been using the new Philips SatinPerfect Epilator for two months. When I first got the product, I read through the lengthy instructions and waited the hour for it to fully charge. The loud noise it makes almost made me want to throw it and run! I wasn't sure about it after my first use. It hurt a little bit, and I didn't get completely smooth legs. Since then I have used it more and learned some tricks to help get great smooth legs.
The box includes the Satin Perfect Epilator, active hair lifter attachment, optimal performance cap attachment, shaving head attachment with optional trimming comb, illuminated tweezers, cleaning brush, storage pouch, and charger.
The instructions mention that you will get smooth legs in just minutes. Sadly, it does not always get every hair. Most of the hair on my legs is very fine and the epilator does not pull fine hair as easily as it does thicker hair. I have to run the epilator over the same spot a few times, to get the fine hair. I have also found that taking a warm shower to open the pores and exfoliating the skin is what really helps get as much hair as possible. Also finding the right angle to hold the epilator while pulling the skin really helps. The epilator also has a great feature built in, a light that shines so you can see the hairs that you need to get pulled out.
There isn't too much pain using the epilator on my legs. It didn't feel like pricks in the beginning, but I'm so used to it now, it doesn't bother me.
There are a few attachments that come with the epilator. The Active hair lifter attachment has a comb-ilke side to lift the hair up to reach the ceramic discs that pull the hair out. The Optimal Performance Cap attachment massages the skin and helps pull the hair up to pull out the hair. I haven't really noticed much of a difference using these two attachments for the epilator. What works best for me is exfoliating, so I keep the simple cap on. The Shaving head trims hair on the sides and shaves on the top. It helps get any hair that was not pulled up by the ceramic discs. The trimming comb attaches to the shaver for a short shave. I like the Shaving attachment, I think it works well. I just wish the trimming comb had different length settings, but it still works well. The illuminated tweezers are nice. They are not the best tweezers, but the light option is great! You can really see more with the type of light bulb it uses. I had a few ingrown hairs after my first epilator use and the tweezers pulled them out right away.
I really like the epilator. I love not having the shave everyday. It does take a long time to get completely smooth legs. I have to shower, exfoliate, and use the epilator with watching closely for hair I am missing and going over the same areas a few times. It usually take an hour. Even with all that time it takes, I am going to use it all the time. I has issues with shaving with a metal razor. I was having horrible itchiness, then red bump and scabs over a couple days after shaving. It was awful and this product came to me at the best time. I don't have ANY problems with using the epilator! It has been wonderful not having itchy legs!!
The thing I am most happy about is how it makes my armpits look and feel. I have NEVER felt like I got a close enough shave with razors. I always felt stubble even with shaving every way possible. The epilator pulls the hair out and there is NO stubble! Now, there is pain. The first time I used the epilator on my armpits, I almost cried. It really hurt, but the pain quickly went away. I now use it every couple days when hair grows back in and my armpits are so smooth and no longer stubbly! Showering and exfoliating also helps with the pain. I usually use the epilator on my armpits right after the shower and it doesn't hurt much. It really has changed my armpit…life? Haha, I really love this product for my armpits. :)
There are two setting on the Epilator. When you press the power button it starts the fast speed, press it again and it brings it down to the slow speed. My first thought was "why would I want to slow down the speed". I tried using the slow speed a few weeks ago when I was having trouble getting shorter hairs. It really did help, slowing down. I now go back and forth between the speeds as needed.
The epilator takes about an hour to fully charge and runs for about forty minutes. When charging there is battery shaped light on the front of the device that blinks while charging and fully lit when completely charged. When the batter is low it blinks. It is very convenient that the device can be used while charging. I have had the battery run out while using and was able to finish by plugging in.
I am so happy to have this product. I will be using it for a long time. And telling all my friends about it!
